Mississippi is America: We
Knew They Might be Killed is a commemorative
installation marking the 25th anniversary of the murders
of James Chaney age 21, Andrew Goodman, age 20 and Michael
Schwerner age 24, who were working to register black
voters in Meridian, Mississippi. Originally created
as a site specific installation at AIR Gallery in New
York's Soho, the project was traveled by the Jewish
Museum, New York, for several years in an exhibition
entitled Bridges and Boundaries: African Americans and
American Jews.
